Skillet is an American rock band formed in 1996 in Memphis, Tennessee, by lead vocalist and bassist John Cooper and former guitarist Ken Steorts. Known for their powerful anthems, high-energy performances, and faith-driven lyrics, Skillet has become one of the most successful crossover rock bands in modern music.
Blending elements of hard rock, alternative metal, and symphonic rock, the band has released multiple platinum-certified albums and gained a massive following worldwide. Their breakthrough came with “Comatose” (2006) and “Awake” (2009), which featured the hits “Monster,” “Hero,” and “Awake and Alive.” These songs helped solidify Skillet’s reputation as one of the leading forces in Christian rock and mainstream hard rock.
Over the years, the band’s lineup has evolved, but John Cooper remains the driving force alongside his wife, Korey Cooper (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), along with Seth Morrison (lead guitar) and Jen Ledger (drums, vocals).
Skillet has sold over 12 million albums, received multiple Grammy nominations, and continues to dominate the rock scene with their explosive live shows and emotionally charged music. Their later albums, including “Unleashed” (2016), “Victorious” (2019), and “Dominion” (2022), showcase their signature mix of heavy riffs, symphonic elements, and uplifting messages.
With a career spanning nearly three decades, Skillet remains a powerhouse in the rock world, delivering high-impact music that resonates with fans of all backgrounds.
