In the year 2025, music is at a crossroads. It’s been 10 years since the last true class of great
rappers surfaced, with the likes of Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, Kodak Black, Denzel Curry and
Lil Yachty all getting their first big, mainstream breaks, thrusting them into the public eye that
year. Music is now so heavily integrated into online internet culture that it is impossible for an
artist to get big without becoming some sort of meme; receiving some sort of cult-like Reddit
legion that’ll post feverishly about them as if it’s a remote job; having multiple popular fan pages
on social media that document their lives like a bookkeeper at a finance firm; and having their
very own fanbase leak hundreds upon thousands of unreleased records. It’s all apart of the rap
game in 2025, and in the middle of the 2020s, OsamaSon is the undisputed leader of it.
In early 2023, Osama’s quick rise to stardom didn’t exactly happen overnight. He came up at the
perfect time: in an era where audiences were fatigued—from the senseless TikTok acts that fell
as quick as they rose, the carbon copy underground rappers of the early 2020s that all had the
same preset, a pop wave that never transpired into a mainstream movement, and in general, from
a period of music that never got the chance to flourish properly due to a global pandemic. With
Osama’s unique spin on the darkplugg revival that was occurring in 2022 and 2023, combined
with his bubbly personality that shined through his Thriller snippets and IG lives, he garnered a
die-hard fanbase that ushered him into the spotlight of the underground, breaking him into a viral
sensation that was everywhere on the internet by the time of July 21st, 2023, the day his debut
mixtape, Osama Season, released. Although unlike many, Osama didn’t just take that moment,
soak it in and cash in it for an early lottery ticket, he kept putting his foot on the pedal, releasing
another project, Flex Musix, later that December, as well as a deluxe to the project two months
later in February 2024.
Osama went on to go on a sold-out debut tour across the US in the first quarter of 2024, later
moving onto performing his first set of festivals in the Summer, as well as a sold-out European
tour in the Fall, all while dropping consistent singles that lead into his debut album: Jump Out.
Despise the project being leaked a month before it’s release in January 2025, Jump Out charted
on the Billboard 200, debuting at No. 151 and receiving widespread praise across media outlets
including a best new music nod from Pitchfork and a 8.2 rating. In support of the album, Osama
launched a 20-stop headlining US tour that spring, preforming alongside OhSxnta and 1oneam.
In April, he released the official video for “Ref,” directed by Walker Andrews, followed by a
feature on Atlanta rapper Che’s single “Hell Raiser” off Rest In Bass, which dropped July 18.
Osama is currently working on his next full-length project, tentatively titled Psykotic, while
continuing to tease new music via livestreams, live shows and fan pages. Despite no major
co-signs or industry machinery behind him, OsamaSon continues to set the pace for a new
generation of rap—one powered by internet fandom, self-direction, and relentless output.
