The Dead South have never been about constant reinvention, but about full commitment to their own singular way. With confidence in their sound and style and trust in each other, The Dead South arrive at the cusp of explosive global success in an enviable, and well-earned, position: total autonomy. It doesn’t really matter what you call their music – progressive bluegrass, alternative Americana, country, folk and western, what matters is that this is theirs, and people from all different backgrounds, beliefs, experiences, languages and ages love it.

True blue right through, The Dead South don’t shy away from ruffling traditionalists’ feathers from time to time, as they flawlessly execute banjo rolls and lightning fast mandolin tremolos, 3-part harmonies and songs of classic themes -murder ballads, disloyalty, ghosts and the like, all with a wink and a smile. As they continue their climb to the top, The Dead South have learned an important lesson: If you’re going to be outsiders, you’d better be great.

Confirmed by the passion of their Dead South cosplaying fans, who go to concerts in the band’s signature look, this four-piece acoustic set from the middle of the Canadian prairies have found their people. Good Company, as they call themselves, is a global community of vastly dissimilar folks who might not see eye to eye, but who stand shoulder to shoulder at the gigs.

The Dead South recently announced their new record, Chains & Stakes, available for pre-order and pre-save. Chains & Stakes was recorded in Mexico City’s Panoram Studio. After the success of their travel to Muscle Shoals, Alabama to make Sugar & Joy, The Dead South’s confidence in their craft and trust in their team brought them even further south of the border. Reunited with Grammy-winning producer Jimmy Nutt, the team wrote, recorded and empanada-ed their way through 13 songs full of plot twists, family trees, grudges, insurance scams, bacon, burials, banjo riffs and more. The result is an album of surprises, memorable moments, head-turning musicianship, and vulnerable personal stories. The Dead South have grown more adventurous and assured with each album, and Chains & Stakes is a truly “Dead South” collection in the balance of darkness and levity that has come to define their unmistakable brand. Six Shooter Records will proudly release Chains & Stakes on February 9, 2024.

Restricted Items:

Considering recent events, the following items are strictly prohibited

  • No guns, knives, weapons, pepper spray, projectiles of any kind, or any other item that could be used to inflict harm.
  • Replicas of weapons are also NOT permitted
  • No large purses, bags or backpacks will be allowed (larger than a standard sheet of paper).
  • No drugs, drug paraphernalia, or illegal substances of any kind
  • No outside food or drinks
  • No blankets, lawn chairs and/or any other personal furniture, please see FAQs for email info@jannuslive.com or questions regarding ADA
  • No umbrellas, Jannus Live is an outdoor venue, so please plan accordingly
  • No personal video cameras, Go-Pros, selfie sticks, drones, masks or laser pointers.
  • No professional audio, video, or audio recording equipment – (including detachable lenses, tripods, zooms or commercial use rigs) For press pass access, please contact the artist or their management directly.

Other Important Rules for our Venue

  • We are an outdoor, STANDING ROOM ONLY venue
  • All tickets are considered General Admission, unless specifically noted VIP. If your ticket was purchased from either Ticketmaster or AXS.com, they may print with a seat number. This is something we cannot control on their printed tickets and is not a real seat. Jannus Live does not have seating of any kind.
  • All shows are considered ALL-AGES unless specifically noted on the website or flyer, however we always recommend parental discretion based on the artist content and our bar-like environment.
  • Jannus Live does not have a specific ADA section, however we are 100% wheel chair accessible and allow for certain types of medical equipment to be used in the venue. For specific questions please email info@jannuslive.com
  • All concerts are considered RAIN OR SHINE, with the exception of extremely severe weather. Cancellations due to weather are rare and are announced as early as possible via this website and social media. Please note, UMBRELLAS are prohibited, but we do sell ponchos!
